Trilogy ESI-1000, FA2100 CVR Selected For Citation M2

L-3 Equipment Standard on 11 Cessna Platforms

The L-3 Trilogy ESI-1000 Electronic Standby Instrument will be included as standard equipment on the recently launched new light business jet called the Citation M2. Cessna also selected L-3 Aviation Recorders’ FA2100 Solid-State Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) as an option on the new aircraft.

"The Trilogy ESI will enhance both the safety and reliability of the Citation M2 avionics suite,” said Larry Riddle, vice president of business development for L-3 Avionics Systems. “We continue to build on our long-standing relationship with the Cessna team, and our equipment is now standard on 11 Cessna platforms. We are proud that Cessna has selected two products from L-3’s Aviation Products businesses as part of this new aircraft package.”

The Trilogy ESI series standby instruments were developed and certified to Design Assurance Level A, the highest safety standard acknowledged by the FAA. Created to meet the needs of general aviation aircraft, the instruments provide attitude, altitude, airspeed, slip/skid and optional heading data on a space-saving 3.7-inch backlit display.

Key features include:

  • Logically grouped flight data eliminates multiple instruments, easing the transition to flight by
  • standby.
  • Integrated air-data computer provides accurate data independently of other systems.
  • Single instrument reduces weight and scan times versus reading multiple instruments.
  • Solid-state design offers increased reliability compared to electro-mechanical instruments.
  • Standard 3-ATI mounting cutout makes Trilogy easy to operate and install.

The Trilogy ESI was developed with L-3 Avionics Systems’ advanced solid-state expertise, which has made the company a leader in electronic standby instrument systems for high-end aircraft. The Trilogy product line brings this expertise to the general aviation market.

The FA2100 line of cockpit voice recorders provides the industry standard for quality and reliability, demonstrating over 50,000 hours mean time between failures (MTBF) for global general aviation and commercial transport fleets. L-3 CVRs comply with all current and pending FAA and international airworthiness agency regulations, providing two hours of high-quality four-channel audio and datalink message recording capability.
