New Venture To Be Called Space Infrastructure Services (SIS)
SSL MDA Holdings has announced important milestones in its progress to bring transformational on-orbit satellite servicing to market. Space Infrastructure Services LLC (SIS), a new U.S. company, will commercialize sophisticated satellite servicing capabilities, including refueling. SIS will be majority owned by Finance Technology Leverage LLC (FTL), a global investment company headquartered in Silicon Valley, along with other U.S. investors, with SSL MDA Holdings maintaining a minority ownership share. Full financing for the venture is expected to conclude in the coming weeks.
Carrying out vital missions for over 100 years, the 23rd Bomb Squadron and the associated aircraft maintenance units continue to play a critical role in delivering combat airpower. Dating back to June 16, 1917, the 23rd BS honors 100 years of existence.
Fishtail Air has signed a contract with Airbus Helicopters to cover a fleet of 2 H125 helicopters for 5 years under the manufacturer’s HCare service offer. The contract stipulates support for both scheduled and un-scheduled aircraft events, and entitles Fishtail Air for a full Material Management service backed by a parts availability commitment.
The South Korea Coast Guard has accepted delivery of its second S-92 helicopter. The South Korea Coast Guard has operated a single S-92 helicopter since March 2014. To date, that aircraft has flown more than 850 flight hours, saving more than 30 lives flying search and rescue and emergency medical transport missions.
China-based Tsinghua University, has signed an agreement with Airbus to be part of the Airbus Global University Partner Program (AGUPP), bringing the total number of partners to 21 universities from around the world.
Fuel Remaining
A phrase used by either pilots or controllers when relating to the fuel remaining on board until actual fuel exhaustion. When transmitting such information in response to either a controller question or pilot initiated cautionary advisory to air traffic control, pilots will state the APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF MINUTES the flight can continue with the fuel remaining. All reserve fuel SHOULD BE INCLUDED in the time stated, as should an allowance for established fuel gauge system error.
