South Carolina Aviation Association Announces Southeast Aviation Show

Regional Show Geared Towards Pilots, Aviation Enthusiasts

The Greenville Downtown Airport (KGMU) in South Carolina is planning to host a new Southeast Aviation Show, sponsored by the South Carolina Aviation Association (SCAA). The October event will showcase the latest aviation products, a static aircraft display and educational sessions. It will open to the public for a five dollar admission fee, and companies that sell aviation related products can exhibit and possibly host a twenty minute educational session.

"For 28 years, the Northwest area of the United States has had an aviation conference and trade show that attracts more than 10,000 people a year," according SCAA President Eric Ramsdell. "The SCAA wants to provide a show for aviation enthusiasts in our region," Ramsdell said.

"The aviation community in the Southeast is very strong and we expect a great turnout for the first show," stated Joe Frasher, GMU's Airport Director.  "If it takes off, as planned, we'd love to grow the event each year,"  said Frasher. "GMU is within walking distance of the Carolina First Center, which is a huge conference center and in the future we would love to have the Southeast Aviation Show grow into that facility," Frasher added.

KGMU is the busiest general aviation airport in South Carolina and is a self-sufficient entity with financial strength that doesn't rely on local taxpayers for funding. The airport is home to more than 25 aviation-related businesses creating 453 jobs that annually contribute more than $35.2 million to the region's economy.
