Honor Flight’s 56Th Flight To Honor Pearl Harbor

Will Take WWII Veterans To Washington D.C. On Dec. 6

On Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, Honor Flight Austin’s 56th Flight will depart Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for a special Pearl Harbor commemoration flight to Washington D.C. The flight will transport 12 World War II veterans to the nation’s capital to visit and experience the memorials built in their honor. They will also participate in the annual Pearl Harbor Day event at the WWII Memorial, as well as a special visit to the White House. This is Honor Flight’s fifth flight for fall 2018.

The veterans will arrive in the ticketing area at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) around 10 a.m. The veterans, guardians, and staff will assemble for a procession, from Gate 5 to Gate 12 around 11 a.m. The procession will be led by the TSA Honor Guard and Austin Police Department Bagpipes.

Honor Flight Austin will depart Austin-Bergstrom at 12:05 p.m., and will be arriving at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) at 4:05 p.m. The veterans will return Friday, December 7, departing from Reagan at 4:55 p.m. and arriving at AUS at 7:50 p.m., all times local. A welcome home greeting is planned at about 8 p.m. upstairs in west ticketing in the terminal. The veterans are scheduled to arrive at 7:55 p.m. and the flight will be operated by Southwest Airlines.

Honor Flight Austin is a non-profit organization created to honor veterans by transporting them to visit and reflect at their war memorials. Honor Flight Austin serves veterans residing within Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Gillespie, Gonzales, Hays, Lee, Llano, Milam, Travis and Williamson Counties.
