Application Period for 2023 RAA Scholarships Closing Soon

09 June Deadline Nigh

Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Washington D.C., the Regional Airline Association (RAA) is a business association currently representing 17 North American regional airlines and 280 associate, non-airline members. The association’s membership comprises, also, a gamut of stakeholders spanning the regional airline industry.

Among the RAA’s objectives is the perpetuation of the regional airline industry. To that end, the association awards scholarships intended to offset the financial burden of pilot training—thereby encouraging larger numbers of young people to pursue flight-deck careers.

On 06 June 2023, the RAA set forth the application period for its 2023 scholarship round will close on Friday, 09 June. Subject scholarships—in the amount of $4,000 per-recipient—may applied for by U.S. citizens or permanent residents:

  • Officially enrolled in accredited college or university curricula germane to careers in the airline industry.
  • Holding a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of no lower than 3.0.

The application process for RAA scholarships entails:

  • Submission of a resume outlining the applicant’s work-history, extracurricular activities, and record of community involvement.
  • Provision of a brief essay describing the applicant’s interest in the airline industry.
  • Provision of a faculty recommendation and school transcript.
  • Submission of a scholarship application (in addition to the aforementioned criteria) by 09 June 2023.

The RAA functions, in part, as collective bargaining voice, lobbying on its members’ behalves before the U.S. Congress, the Department of Transportation, the Federal Aviation Administration, and other U.S. federal agencies.

It is important to note the RAA represents the financial and economic interests of regional airline and regional airline support industry employers. The association does not represent the financial or economic interest of airline employees—unionized or otherwise.
