Wings Over Houston Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Spectacular Airshow Planned, Aerial Performances Highlighted By Blue Angels

The Wings Over Houston Airshow, one of the most iconic and extensive flight history showcases, will celebrate its 40th Anniversary at Ellington Airport on October 26-27, 2024. The event will feature a flashy lineup of aerial performances headlined by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

The CAF Wings Over Houston was founded in 1984 as a tribute to wartime aviation and has grown into a premier annual event that connects the history of aviation with today’s technology. This year will feature an impressive collection of vintage military aircraft, opportunities to meet pilots and decorated veterans, and of course the flight demonstration teams.

Flight exhibits this year will include the Tora! Tora! Tora! aerial reenactment of the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor with pyrotechnics and precision flying; The F-16 Falcon Viper Demo Team; a search-and-rescue demo by the U.S. Coast Guard; the 122nd Fighter Squadron (Bayou Militia) F-15C showcase; the Air Force Heritage Flight with civilian pilots flying vintage warbirds in formation with modern fighter jets.

The aerial performances will be topped off by the Blue Angels flying their F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft in a fast and furious display of skill and precision flying. The Blues pilots are the elite of the Navy and Marine Corps, now with the first female fighter jet pilot, Lt. Cmdr. Amanda Lee. Watch out for that sneak pass!

Wings Over Houston is also supported by the Lone Star Flight Museum, the Collings Foundation-Houston based at Ellington, and the Vietnam War Flight Museum.
