Partners: Avidyne and PS Engineering Team Up On Release 9

Avidyne And PS Engineering To Deliver Entegra Release 9 Compatible Audio Panel

Avidyne is partnering up with the folks at PS Engineering to add an audio control solution for Avidyne's exciting Entegra Release 9 Integrated Avionics Suite upgrade. The Avidyne version of PS Engineering's flagship PMA8000B Audio Panel/Intercom/ Marker Beacon Receiver is designed to add special functionality when interfaced with Release 9, and is a customer option for the recently-certified Release 9 retrofit on Cirrus SR20 and SR22 aircraft.

"Avidyne's contribution to the advancement in general aviation glass cockpits is extraordinary," said PS Engineering's Founder and CEO, Mark Scheuer, "and we are very pleased to work with them to apply our experience and capability with audio controls to integrate fully with their next-generation Entegra Release 9 system."

"PS Engineering is an established leader in general aviation audio panels, so they were a logical choice to team up with for an Entegra-specific audio panel that optimizes the interface and ease-of-use pilot experience of the Release 9 system," said Dan Schwinn, Avidyne's President and CEO. "With Entegra Release 9, Avidyne has developed an easy-to-use avionics suite and this audio interface enhances its capabilities with key features that make flying simpler."

The Avidyne version of the PMA8000B allows Entegra Release 9 Integrated Flight Displays (IFD) to know what combination of VHF communications transceivers are selected by the crew, allowing the IFDs to display plain-English station identifier information about the radio frequency selected, so at a glance, pilots know exactly with whom they will be talking when they key their mic.

In addition, the PMA8000B leverages the full four-channel communications capability of Entegra Release 9's dual-DVX740 VHF radio modules by adding the ability to simultaneously monitor its standby frequencies along with the active frequencies. This can be very valuable during IFR operations such as when you are flying IFR to an uncontrolled airport and you are in two-way communication with approach control, listening to ATIS, monitoring the common traffic advisory frequency for the destination, and monitoring 121.5, the guard frequency.

All of the popular functions of the standard PMA8000B are also supported, including front panel music and cellular telephone input, intercom recording and playback, user selectable music and intercom configurations, and PS Engineering's proprietary IntelliVox intercom squelch protocol.

The list price of the PMA8000B (P/N 050-890-0402) for Avidyne Entegra is $1,895.00, and initial deliveries began May 5, 2009.
