Panel Possibilities Range From LSA To eVTOL Aircraft
For the most part, pilots care about the information being presented to them rather than how that information arrives at the panel. That's the assessment of Avilution founder Mark Spencer, who says that the company is working towards making panels that are custom to an aircraft and the type of flying that particular pilot and aircraft are going to do.
Speaking to Aero-TV at AirVenture in July, Spencer said one recent example was a company that was looking for an engine instrument for an eVTOL aircraft. They need to track eight motors, torque, engine RPM, inverter temperature ... many parameters that are not tracked in a conventional aircraft.
Spencer said that the company was able to assemble the panel, design the layout and have it ready for a presentation to the company's investors in a week's time.
Spencer says XFS is not as much about avionics as it is a tool kit for taking ideas from a concept to a product much more rapidly.
