Australian Pilot Busted With Nearly 100 Pounds Of Pot

Shipment May Have Been Going To South Australian Motorcycle Gangs

A 67-year-old pilot who is a member of the Gold Coast flying club in Queensland, Australia was arrested at Deniliquin Airport in New South Wales, Australia airport with 45 kilograms ... or just over 99 pounds ... of pot in his airplane.

The pilot, John White, was charged with multiple drug offenses by the New South Wales police. Australia's 9 News reports that the shipment was thought to be intended for the Descendants and Hells Angels motorcycle gangs operating in South Australia.

White was also reportedly transporting chemicals used to make the drug 'ice'.

The arrest was the result of an 8-month investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies across three states in Australia. It coincided with other raids in New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia.

Other members of the flying club said they were "shocked" by the allegations, and that White had occasionally attended meetings and was "always there to lend a hand."

White was denied bond.
