Falcon 900B Flight Deck STC Approved

Dassault Owners Gain Access to Universal Avionics InSight Glass Panel Upgrade

Dassault Aviation has obtained an STC for the Universal Avionics InSight Flight Deck upgrade on their Falcon 900B, opening the way for owners to make the jump to a modern avionics layout while retaining the OEM-supported FMS.

The Falcon 900B has already attained a near-classic status in the bizjet world, released in 1991, but operators today tend to find the downright vintage avionics layout somewhat limiting compared to similar aircraft. By making the switch to the Universal Avionics (UA) InSight system, owners obtain 4 multifunction displays, boosting situational awareness throughout all phases of flight. OEM FMS functionality is retained while granting access to 3D synthetic vision, 2D interactive digital maps, and flight planning support just like any other modern business jet avionics system.

Even better news for operators making the switch: The new panels increase available payload by more than 200  lbs by removing 5 heavy CRT monitors. Ridding a Falcon 900B of those older, heavier, and more complex units will allow operators to breathe easy knowing their aircraft is free of their attendant failure points. No more parts hunting for out-of-production CRT parts or nervously eyeing a sluggish screen for signs of imminent failure.  Instead, the simple, reliable LCDs will take the lead, allowing vastly increased screen resolution, color rendering, and brightness no matter the conditions.

“The InSight Display System continues to gain significant momentum in the market, with nine STCs available or in advanced development, demonstrating the scalability of the system for business aviation,” said Dror Yahav, Universal Avionics’ chief executive officer. “Upcoming upgrades for Enhanced Flight Vision Systems and Flight Deck Connectivity will bring the updated airplane into the front line of business jets.”
