Air Force Materiel Command To Be Key Participant at 71st Annual EAA Fly-In

AFMC Will Participate in AirVenture Oshkosh 2024

The Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), a cornerstone in the development, delivery, and maintenance of U.S. Air Force weapon systems, will feature prominently at the upcoming EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024. Scheduled for July 22-28 at Wittman Regional Airport in Wisconsin, the 71st annual EAA fly-in convention will host AFMC as one of its key participants.

Rick Larsen, EAA's Vice President of Communities and Member Programs, highlighted the integral role of AFMC in managing installation and mission support, alongside its efforts in discovery, development, testing, evaluation, and life cycle management of nearly every major Air Force weapon system. Throughout the event week, the capabilities of AFMC will be showcased, promising attendees a deep dive into the technical prowess and operational excellence that underpin the Air Force's dominance.

The specifics of participating AFMC aircraft and activities will be unveiled progressively as they are finalized. The command plans to display various facets of technology development and transition, demonstrating the rigorous processes involved in testing and sustaining weapon systems. Additionally, a series of hands-on STEM activities will engage visitors, further emphasizing the educational aspect of the event. Moreover, the Air Force's Band of the Flight is scheduled to perform, adding a musical component to the technological showcase.

General Duke Richardson, AFMC Commander, expressed enthusiasm about participating in AirVenture Oshkosh, emphasizing the command's role in ensuring national readiness and showcasing the collaborative strength of AFMC's team. He noted, "Our driven and innovative team of military and civilian Airmen delivers combat power daily, ensuring our nation is ready today and tomorrow."

AFMC, headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, encompasses six centers across the U.S., including the Air Force Research Laboratory, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, and the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, among others. The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, aligned under AFMC, continues to preserve and present the Air Force story nationally. The upcoming AirVenture promises to be a pivotal platform for AFMC to display its integral role in powering the world's foremost air force.
