Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. To Upgrade Legacy Citations

Will Bring A 'Touch Of Glass' To Older Birds

Exton, PA-based avionics supplier Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. told ANN Tuesday it has entered into an agreement with Cessna Aircraft Company to provide Flat Panel Display Systems on legacy Cessna Citation aircraft. Flat Panel Display Systems will replace existing round dials in early Citation cockpits, with displays to be distributed and installed through 34 Service Centers worldwide.

"The company’s Flat Panel Display System product line or cockpit/IP is the most timely and cost effective way to upgrade legacy Citation aircraft with the state-of-the-art technology offered in our systems," said Innovative Solutions and Support’s President Roman Ptakowski. "This agreement further solidifies the success of the company’s strategy for targeting select market segments."

Bringing glass cockpits to older aircraft is not uncharted territory for the gang at IS&S. As Aero-News reported in October, the company recently received an STC for its retrofit option for the Pilatus PC-12. IS&S also installs glass cockpits on Boeing 767s for cargo and charter flight operation ABX Air, Inc.

Based on unit sales, Cessna Aircraft Company is the world's largest manufacturer of general aviation airplanes. In 2005, Cessna delivered 1,157 aircraft and reported revenues of about $3.5 billion. Since the company was originally established in 1927, more than 187,000 Cessna airplanes have been delivered to nearly every country in the world.
