Bombardier Rolls Out New CF34-8-Powered CRJ1000 Aircraft

Largest CRJ Gets New Engines

The first GE CF34-8C5A1-powered CRJ1000 aircraft was rolled out at a special ceremony last week at Bombardier's headquarters in Montreal, Canada.

The 100-seater CRJ1000 Next Gen aircraft is the largest member of Bombardier's CRJ family and is designed for medium-haul routes. Bombardier has attracted 49 firm orders from Brit Air and Air Nostrum. Both airlines were at recognized as the aircraft's launch customers during the ceremony on December 14.

The CF34-8C5A1 engine that powers the CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft engine is the newest CF34-8 variant. More than 1,900 CF34-8 engines are in service on Bombardier's CRJ700 (CF34-8C5B1) and CRJ900 (CF34-8C5) and EMBRAER's 170/175 (CF34-8E5) aircraft. The engines have accumulated more than 19 million flight-hours and 14 million cycles. The CF34-8 engine has undergone many enhancements to lower part count, further improve durability and lower maintenance costs.
