AAA USA Donates Piper PA-28 to Saraland High School

Aircraft Donation Provides Hands-On Training For Future Aerospace Professionals

AAA USA, an aerospace, industrial, and ground transportation service company based in Mobile, Alabama, has donated a full-scale maintenance training aircraft to Saraland High School in support of its aviation program. The donation will provide students with hands-on experience working on a common airframe: the Piper PA-28.

Saraland High School, located just north of AAA USA’s headquarters, offers an Airframe Technology program that educates students on the construction and operation of aircraft and their systems. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in aviation maintenance, mechanics, and related technical fields.

A formal handover and dedication ceremony for the Piper PA-28 will take place at Saraland High School on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 9:00 am. The event will feature remarks from school officials and AAA USA executives, including Principal Scott Croley, Saraland City Schools Superintendent Dr. Brent Harrison, and AAA USA Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Perry Rucker.

“As the aerospace industry continues to thrive along the U.S. Central Gulf Coast – particularly in Mobile – AAA USA is reinforcing its commitment to the local community through job creation, economic development, and – perhaps most importantly – education,” said Rucker. “By investing in workforce development, and in partnership with Saraland High School and Bishop State Community College, AAA USA aims to raise awareness of the career opportunities available to students beyond graduation.”

On top of the aircraft donation, AAA USA has launched the “Wings of Opportunity” aviation scholarship for Saraland High School students. The annual scholarship program aims to support students pursuing careers in aerospace. Applications are available through the school, with this year’s scholarship awards ceremony scheduled for May 13.

Saraland High School serves grades 9–12 as part of the Saraland City School System and offers a range of technical education programs. Its Airframe Technology curriculum covers turbine engine operations, avionics, sheet metal structures, hydraulic systems, and aircraft communication systems. The program prepares students for careers in powerplant mechanics, airframe maintenance, avionics, and other technical roles in aviation and transportation.
