USAF's 75th Anniversary Celebration Set for AirVenture

The Biggest Shindig of the Year to Celebrate an Aviation Milestone

The United States Air Force is set for a great time at EAA's AirVenture Oshkosh 2022 as it joins the world's most diehard aviation fans in celebrating three quarters of a century since its founding. The annual fly-in convention from the Experimental Aircraft Association is every summer's must-attend event for anyone even tangentially affiliated with flight, and 2022 is no exception.

Following World War II, the Air Force was established as a standalone, aviation-focused military arm, breaking from previous standing as the Army Air Corps. It was an announcement that cemented military aviation as a serious, professional, and vital role in warfighting, allowing for the Force to retain, train, and polish a highly effective, volunteer fighting force. That dedication and tireless enthusiasm for safety, efficacy, and professionalism have paid invaluable dividends to everyone in aviation, building the groundwork and procedures so vital to safe aviation. Today, the USAF has swelled to more than 325,000 personnel and 5,000 aircraft, with continuous development on futuristic technology development to address future shortcomings before they're even created.

Activities to celebrate- still in flux while bookings are made and exhibits created- will include fly-bys of classic warbirds, static displays, and presentations throughout the week, including programs in the evening at EAA's Theater in the Woods. Some audience favorites will make a showing as part of daily air shows and display pieces on the tarmac, giving visitors a rare chance to see certain machines in the flesh. AirVenture will be held from July 25-31 at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the Air Force will take a look back at their birth in 1947 and the period since.
