Drone-Based Home Security Introduced At CES

Sunflower Labs System Features Autonomous Aircraft, AI

Consumers looking for the latest in home security might be interested in a new system introduced by Sunflower Labs at CES in Las Vegas. The system features an autonomous drone that detects suspicious activity around your home, and goes out to take a look.

Engadget reports that the drone element, called the Bee, is equipped with collision avoidance technology and GPS. It streams live video of your property to your smartphone. Once the inspection is concluded, the aircraft returns to its waterproof housing ... the Hive ...  where it will recharge and wait for its next mission.

You do have to give a command to launch the drone following an alert sent to your mobile device. Sensors called Sunflowers placed around your property send the alert to your phone.

But if you want to be on the cutting edge of this home security technology, have some room on your credit card. The starting price for pre-orders of the Bee and associated systems is $9,950. Deliveries are expected to begin in mid-2020.
