ExpressJet Airlines Gains New Jets With Sale To ManaAir

Will Acquire 25 New Embraer E175-SC Airplanes

The ExpressJet Airlines pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), have been notified that United Airlines announced the award of 25 new Embraer E175-SC aircraft to ExpressJet as part of a deal that also includes the sale of ExpressJet from SkyWest Inc. to ManaAir LLC, in which United Airlines will own a minority interest. The sale is expected to be complete in early 2019.

“Today’s news of the E175 award to ExpressJet and the news of our sale signals a new era for ExpressJet pilots,” said F/O Joe Mauro, chairman of the ExpressJet ALPA Master Executive Council. “We look forward to a stronger relationship with United Airlines, and I have no doubt that our pilots will flawlessly execute United’s plans for our future with the same reliability and professionalism they have demonstrated throughout the history of our airline.”

ExpressJet’s E175-SCs will be configured with 70 seats. Deliveries will begin in April 2019 and passenger service on the new aircraft is expected to begin in the summer. ExpressJet also operates a fleet of Embraer E145s and Bombardier CRJ200s for United Airlines.

Flying as United Express, ExpressJet is based in College Park, GA, and until the deal is finalized is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of SkyWest Inc.
