Innotech Aviation Receives STC for I-Ku Airborne Broadband System

Installation Approved For Bombardier Global Express Aircraft

Innotech Aviation of Montreal has received an STC from Transport Canada for its I-Ku (pronounced I-Q) broadband network installation on the Bombardier Global Express series of business jets. The system allows worldwide data and voice connectivity, with speeds reaching 10 Mbps. The current industry achievement is approximately 2 Mbps.

Using proprietary software applications developed by Innotech, either retrofit or 'green aircraft' installation will allow simultaneous access to video conferencing, live TV, on-demand movies, Voice over IP (VOIP), Voice Wi-Fi and the Internet. In conjunction with ViaSat of Carlsbad, California, the system uses Ku-band satellite networks to provide worldwide coverage and larger bandwidth capabilities.

Innotech director, sales and marketing, Tony Rawlinson said, I-Ku makes the Global Express series truly a connected-worldwide aircraft. Now, with I-Ku, you can have that connection, anywhere. Laptop, Blackberry, iPhone, iPad - they all connect to this system, simultaneously. I-Ku contributes significantly to the efficiency of all those who use aircraft for vital business operations.

Bombardier Global Express

"We continue to lead the industry in the development of targeted technologies for the business aviation community; advances that truly keep pace with the development of long-range aircraft. I-Ku is just the latest of these frontiers."

The I-Ku system can be installed in approximately 10 days, depending on the aircraft configuration, and represents a minimal weight increase of about 80 lbs.
