Viral Wannabe Accused of Crashing Plane for Views

Youtuber Shenanigans May Have, Once Again, Embarrassed General Aviation

One creator has made some waves with his latest video, a quickly edited affair packed with jump cuts that he says shows his recent cross country flight ending in an ‘unavoidable’ plane crash. In an internet ecosystem packed with fakes and imposters, it didn't take long for incongruities in the video to catch the eyes of knowledgeable viewers. The 16-minute video is, to the critical eye, packed with oddities from the start. It features Jacob flying a 1940 Taylorcraft to spread the ashes of his friend, Johnny Strange, who died in a 2015 wingsuit crash in Switzerland. With his aircraft sporting cameras affixed to the tail, the port wing, and the cabin, Jacob had been

Cincinnati Jury Awards $2 Million To Fired Pilot

Aviator Fired For Refusing Immediate Flight Into Hurricane Activity

A former corporate aviator was awarded $1.9 million in damages in a court case that saw his termination for a desire to postpone flight into hurricane activity. His employer said that his failure to fly when ordered constituted unjust abandonment of his duties, while he believes his actions were made in the interest of safety. The jury found his evidence convincing, believing he acted in accordance with his duties as the pilot in command. The event occurred in September of 2017, when Justinic was tasked to fly an insurance adjuster out of Ohio to survey recent hurricane damage to Columbia Sussex hotel properties in Puerto Rico by the aircraft operator, Airtech LLC. The flight

IAF Bison Claims Another Life

5th Indian MiG-21 Crash Caps Fatal Year For Troubled Fighter

The Indian Air Force has lost another of their experienced pilots to their troubled MiG-21 Bison, when a crash on December 24th claimed the life of 51st Squadron Wing Commander Harshit Sinha. The IAF confirmed the incident in Jaisalmer as the crash being the 5th for the aircraft type in 2021. Efforts to replace the MiG in service have been in the works for more than a decade but have yielded little change. In 2013, one surviving Wing Commander, in the wake of his own MiG-21 crash, petitioned the courts for the fleet to be scrapped, saying the fighter violated his right to a safe work environment. Overall, the aircraft type has been involved in nearly 300 accidents and losses, with over 2

NTSB Prelim: Beech K35

The Engine Started To Run Rough And Lose Power

On December 11, 2021, about 1455 Pacific standard time, a Beech K35 airplane, N654HR, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Temecula, California. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that about eight minutes after takeoff, while at a cruise altitude about 3,000 ft mean sea level, the engine started to run rough and lose power. He was operating off the left fuel tank and therefore activated the fuel pump and switched to the right fuel tank but that did not resolve the issue.
