Faury: Sikorsky Could Be Attractive Acquisition For Airbus

United Technologies Will Spin Off Or Sell The Helicopter Company This Year

Airbus is among the aerospace giants that are eyeing the possible acquisition of Sikorsky, which United Technologies announced earlier this week that it would sell or spin off, likely before the end of the year.

Speaking at the Paris Air Show, Airbus president President Guillaume Faury (pictured in file photo) said that the development was "important to our industry." He said that the current market for helicopters is "difficult" as demand for the aircraft falls.

Airbus, of course, already has a helicopter division.

Others who are reportedly doing due diligence as far as Sikorsky is concerned are Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Textron, according to a report from Fox Business.

While Faury said that Sikorsky is worth watching, he stopped short of saying Airbus would make an offer for the company.
