Sensors Enhance Effectiveness Of Counter-Drone Platform
Echodyne, manufacturer of radar platforms, announced that it has been selected by Zone 5, a UAS and technology company, to provide radar systems for Zone 5’s Paladin Low Collateral Effects Interceptor (LCEI) drone. Paladin is an autonomous interceptor solution equipped with a payload and advanced battle management system that is deployed to neutralize UAS threats.

Paladin is the first of its kind to be included in the Department of Defense Blue UAS Cleared List.
To counteract rapidly-evolving drone threats, Paladin needed a radar sensor capable of delivering highly accurate airspace data with the lowest size, weight, and power (SWaP) to accurately detect, track, and neutralize hostile drones.
Kyle Woo, Director of Multi-Mission Systems at Zone 5 said, “The UAS threat is evolving at an unprecedented pace on today’s battlefield. At Zone 5, our mission is to provide warfighters with Counter-UAS solutions that protect them not only from today’s challenges, but from the threats of tomorrow. Echodyne has consistently delivered on their promise—radars with unmatched reliability, superior performance, and the adaptability to keep pace with our adversaries.”
EchoFlight is mounted on the front of the interceptor and provides highly accurate airspace situational awareness to track adversary drones. Zone 5 will use the EchoShield medium-range radar as an element of its ground systems to detect and track all UAS at low altitude to inform Paladin’s situational awareness and decision-making.

Eben Frankenberg, CEO of Echodyne said, “Echodyne is excited to work alongside Zone 5 to improve mission outcomes and enhance warfighter safety in a rapidly evolving battlefield flooded with drone threats. As the UAS threat continues to evolve and become more sophisticated, integrating Echodyne radars with cutting-edge solutions like Zone 5’s Paladin is how we win on the modern battlefield.”
