Airlines For America Comments on FAA Extension

Holiday Travel Safeguarded Thanks to Sam Graves' Assistance

Airlines for America (A4A) commented with gratitude on a recent FAA extension that will ensure the regulator remains operational should Washington not pass its Reauthorization in time.

The House Committee On Transportation said that “H.R. 6503 is a clean extension of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) authorities through March 8, 2024, in the absence of Congress enacting a long-term FAA reauthorization bill by December 31, 2023.”

Airlines for America gave their approval. "We are grateful to Chairman Sam Graves and Ranking Member Rick Larsen for their leadership in securing passage of an FAA extension which is necessary to ensure the FAA’s operating authority over the holidays when nearly 40 million people are expected to fly and packages are being delivered daily."

"U.S. airlines are prepared to meet this season’s high demand and are relieved to have certainty at such a critical time for the flying and shipping public."

"Our National Airspace System remains at an inflection point, and operating extension-to-extension is not conducive to the efficiency of our airspace. We continue to encourage a bipartisan Senate work product so that conference between chambers can produce a long-term reauthorization."
