At a news conference Monday at the Paris Air Show, Bell Helicopter
announced that it is nearing final FAA certification for the new
Bell 210 light utility helicopter - which will mark a major
milestone for the program and bring the aircraft one step closer to
delivery.
Boeing Rotorcraft recently took delivery of its first V-22
electric rescue hoist designed and manufactured by Goodrich
Corporation. The hoist was installed onto a V-22 aircraft scheduled
for delivery into service for the U.S. Air Force later this
year.

It was no surprise to me that the pilots' checklists were a LOT
more involved than those that I'm used to before taking off in a
Cessna 150 or 172. B-17 drivers have to be concerned with such
things as whether or not the tail wheel was locked, and all that
stuff.
Opening day at the Paris Air Show is full of exciting
announcments... such as Raytheon's announcing another step in the
Beechcraft King Air line with the introduction of the Beechcraft
King Air 350ER - the latest in a line of proven special mission
aircraft.
C-130Js, which have been operating in-theater for nearly three
years, are demonstrating day after day their 'ability to transform
the world of tactical airlift operations.'
At a briefing at the Paris Air Show, Boeing reported strong
progress on many aspects of the all-new 787 Dreamliner that make
the airplane more appealing to passengers and airlines.
Bombardier has unveiled the full-scale mockup of its
next-generation CSeries family of aircraft. Bombardier also
took the opportunity to announce it had selected its Mirabel
facility as the final assembly site for the CSeries aircraft and
confirmed it was in serious discussions with Pratt & Whitney
Canada for a new centreline engine for the aircraft.
Sikorsky Aircraft has signed a memorandum of understanding with
the Government of Turkey for 12 new S-70B SEAHAWK helicopters plus
an option for five additional helicopters. First deliveries are
scheduled to begin in 2008.
The world's largest airliner arrived Sunday in Paris to make its
debut at the Paris Air Show. The 46th Paris Air Show starts Monday,
and will display the latest and greatest from many
manufacturers.
It's been a bad week for stowaways. While the macabre death of
an apparent stowaway in the wheel well of a South African Airbus
340 has garnered many headlines (including here), another stowaway
left New York as an "unmanifested passenger" on a Spirit Air flight
to Detroit last Thursday.
The country's longest running women's air race takes off on June
21st to 24th from the Purdue University Airport in West Lafayette,
Indiana. The 2005 Air Race Classic will start and finish at KLAF,
with the winners being announced on June 26th.
Symphony Aircraft Industries (SAI) announced last week that
Stephane Paradis has joined the company as Vice President of
Operations. Paradis will have overall responsibility for the
company's operational activities, including procurement, production
planning and control, production, quality assurance and aircraft
certification.
Raytheon announced promotions and new positions last week for
three of their experienced personnel. Congratulations to Tony
Marlow, Brad Stancil and Don Mercer.
A World Airways plane departed Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson
International Airport Sunday bound for Vietnam as part of a
historic trip commemorating the 30-year anniversary of "Operation
Babylift."
Duncan Aviation announced this week the successful certification
and installation of the Rockwell Collins IDS-3000 and IFIS
(Integrated Flight Information System) in an Astra 1125.
Ken Bohlen, executive vice president and chief innovation
officer of Textron won the 2005 International Business Award in the
"Best MIS and Systems Executive" category.
