King Airs Get Standard Air Conditioning

Electric AC Powered by GPU, Engine Power

Textron Aviation has announced that the formerly optional electrically driven air conditioning system will soon be a standard feature on all new production Beechcraft King Air 360s.

The system provides cool air throughout the cabin, even during the taxi phase, providing greatly enhanced passenger and crew comfort in hotter locales. Deliveries with the new air conditioning system should begin in the coming months. The AC system is built into the structure of the aircraft, and doesn't eat up any cabin space. With electric operation, the King Air can run air conditioning via engine power or a ground power unit, offering a much more environmentally friendly - and affordable - solution to keeping cool.

The change can be seen as proof positive of what King Air buyers select in their option sheet, adding creature comforts to a capable, legendary twin-engine turboprop.

“The new system for the King Air 360 represents our continued investment in an already iconic product,” said Lannie O’Bannion, Textron Aviation’s senior vice president for Sales & Flight Operations. “Last year we brought all new interiors and enhancements to the cockpit, and now we are bringing more amenities and comfort to the passengers and crew ahead of each flight.”
