First Pratt & Whitney Powered A321XLR Delivered To Wizz Air

Forty-Six More To Come, First Airline In World To Operate Type

Wizz Air took delivery of the first of 47 Airbus A321XLR aircraft, becoming the first airline in the world to operate the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine-powered A321XLR. Wizz Air is an all-Airbus operator with a fleet of more than 230 A320 family aircraft, and it is expecting another 295 to be delivered.

With the A321XLR fleet additions, the carrier is improving its capacity to connect the Middle East with Europe.

The Wizz Air aircraft interiors are configured with 239 seats in a single class arrangement. The interiors also incorporate the newly designed Airspace cabin that features innovative lighting with multiple settings that enable adjustments at each phase of flight, from boarding, dining, relaxing, to sleep, wakeup, and landing.

In response to the market needs for additional range and payload, the A321XLR represents the next step in the evolution of the A320neo family. The added capability enhances flexibility and value for its airline customers.

The A321XLR is able to deliver up to 4,700 nm with 30% lower fuel burn per seat compared with the previous generation of its competitors. It will also reduce Nox emissions and noise, and to date, Airbus has booked orders for more than 500 of the type.

Like all Airbus aircraft, the A231XLR is able to operate on up to 50% SAF, and the manufacturer is targeting 2030 for when Airbus aircraft can use up to 100% SAF.
