Aspen Avionics Earns EASA Certification For Evolution Flight Display

EFD1000 Continues To 'Evolve' In Market

Aspen Avionics told Aero-News Wednesday the European Aviation Safety Agency has issued European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) authorizations for the EFD1000 Primary Flight Displays. This approval paves the way both for installation of the EFD1000 PFDs in European aircraft -- subject to aircraft-specific installation approvals -- and for expansion of Aspen’s European dealer network.

These ETSOs enable EASA-certified Design Organizations to pursue aircraft-specific approvals for installing the Evolution system in aircraft registered in Europe. Aspen says it continues to work with EASA towards broader Approved Model List Supplemental Type Certifications (AML-STC) for European aircraft.

The company also plans to work with and support European Design Organizations pursuing individual model STCs, aiming to achieve the broadest possible list of approvals for the Evolution Flight Display system.

"European aircraft owners have been anxiously waiting for approval to install the Evolution system in their airplanes. EASA's timely issuance of this ETSO is a big step closer to that goal," said Doug Cayne, VP of Marketing at Aspen Avionics.

"The European market is critically important to Aspen," Cayne continued, "and this ETSO and expected further EASA approvals will enable Aspen to accelerate expansion of its European dealer network and OEM partners."

Aspen Avionics sells and supports its products through a network of more than 400 Authorized Dealers on five continents, in over 20 countries, including 10 EASA member nations. In 2009, the company plans to expand its non-US dealer network substantially, with a special emphasis on the important European market.
