Seven Fatally Injured In Nigerian Air Force Accident

Dornier 228 Down Enroute To Abuja, Nigeria

A Dornier 228 operated by the Nigerian Air Force went down late last week on a flight from Kaduna Air Force Base to Abuja, resulting in the fatal injury of all seven people on board the aircraft.

Channels Television reports that a witness said that the airplane had spun several times before impacting terrain. A post-impact fire ensued.

First responders quickly extinguished the fire, according to the report. The Northwest Zonal Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) Musa Ilalah told reporters that there were four crewmembers and three passengers on board the airplane.

The accident scene was the site of the former Nigerian Defense Academy, according to authorities. The plane went down less than 10 minutes after its departure from the air base.
