Aviation Warning Issued For Ash Cloud From Russian Volcano

Klyuchevskoi Volcano Has Been Active Since August, Officials Say

An aviation warning for an ash cloud from the Klyuchevskoi volcano in the far eastern portion of Russia has been posted following nearly four months of activity.

Russian officials posted the warning Saturday (local time). The volcano is located in Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia and is the tallest active volcano in Europe and Asia.

United Press International reports that, according to RIA Novosti, the volcano has been intermittently active since August. The advisory was posted after it emitted an ash cloud some four miles high which was moving to the northeast, according to the Emergency Services Ministry.

Recent previous eruptions have occurred in 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012.
