International Skydiving Museum Elects New President-CEO

Hail to the Chief

Australian Graeme K. Windsor has been named the new President/CEO of the International Skydiving Museum & Board of Trustees. Mr. Windsor succeeds James F. “Curt” Curtis, III, who was elected to the position in 2014.

Since his first jump over Papua New Guinea in October 1968, Mr. Windsor has devoted his life to skydiving. He has won numerous Australian National Championships medals in such disciplines as style, accuracy, para-ski, and formation skydiving and competed extensively in FAI World Championships, winning the 1982 Team Accuracy bronze medal in Lu?enec, Czechoslovakia.

In addition to stints as a national coach, operations and safety manager, chief instructor, instructor examiner, and a parachute rigger, Mr. Windsor was a member of the Australian Parachute Federation (APF) board, in which he served as chairman, primary and alternate IPC delegate, and CEO—retiring from the latter position in 2008.

During his lengthy and illustrious career, Mr. Windsor has served in nearly every skydiving-related capacity, including stretches as Head of Delegation, Controller, and Jury member at several world championships. The nine-years Mr. Windsor passed as the President of the FAI’s International Parachuting Commission is currently the longest term in the position’s history. The protracted leadership role and the fact he served as President of the Air Sports General Commission from 2011 to 2016 helped earn Mr. Windsor the distinction of being made a Companion of Honor and an FAI President of Honor.

Mr. Windsor is the Air Sport Australia Confederation treasurer and was a member of the committee by which the 2018 World Parachuting Championships were organized. Currently, he is a member of the FAI’s Executive Board. In 2017, Mr. Windsor was inducted into the International Skydiving Hall of Fame—only the second Australian to be so honored.

Notwithstanding his more than seven-thousand leaps from perfectly functioning aircraft, Mr. Windsor continues to jump regularly and, in 2018, competed at the World Parachuting Championships in Bulgaria.

In acknowledgment of his fifty years of outstanding representation in both competition and administration, the Australian Parachute Federation, in 2017, named Mr. Windsor Master of Sport Parachuting, the organization’s highest honor.

For his services to parachuting, Australia’s Governor-General awarded Mr. Windsor the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2018.

Mr. Windsor joined the International Skydiving Museum’s board in 2017. The following year, he was made its chair and, in 2020, Mr. Windsor was elected the museum’s vice-president.
