EASA Issues STC For 5-Blade Propeller On Cessna C208 Supervan 900

MT-Propeller Approved For The Installation

EASA has issued an STC (#10054488) to MT-Propeller Entwicklung for the installation of its next generation 5-blade scimitar composite Quiet Fan Jet propeller MTV-27-1-E-C-F-R(G)/CFRL270-66 on Cessna C208 Supervan 900s powered by Honeywell TPE331-12JR turbine engines.

An FAA STC is in progress.

Due to its smaller diameter, the MT-Propeller for the Cessna C208 Supervan 900 has more ground clearance reducing blade tip erosion.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction, the company claims. They have no life limitation and are repairable in case of damage. They also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on nickel alloy leading edges for superior erosion protection of the blades, according to the company.

According to MT-Propeller Vice-President Martin Albrecht, the installation feature the following advantages:

  • 60 % vibration reduction on aircraft fuselage
  • Approximately 14 kg (31 lbs) less weight than the original propeller
  • Ground roll is reduced by 10% approximately 50 m (164 ft)
  • Climb performance is improved by 5-8%
  • Engine Start up is 1/3rd faster for cooler engine Temps and longer battery life

All models comply with the strict German noise regulations 2010– "Landeplatz Lärmschutz Verordnung“ for unrestricted airport operations in Germany and other European Countries.
