Bonanza Makes Emergency Landing On Street In Naples, FL

Airplane Damaged, But Four On Board Walked Away

A 1967 Beechcraft Bonanza made an off-airport landing on a street in North Naples, FL Saturday afternoon. And while there was significant damage to the airplane, all four people on board walked away from the incident.

The Naples News reports that, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, pilot Nathan Jones reported that he was experiencing engine problems with the airplane shortly before making the emergency landing. Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Krista Williamson said the report came in about 4:00 p.m. local time. The plane landed on Logan Boulevard in North Naples.

A car clipped a wing of the airplane after it landed, but it was not clear whether the airplane had come to a stop when it was impacted by the car. No one in the automobile was injured in the incident.

Flightaware.com indicates that the Bonanza left LaGrange, Georga with Naples Municipal Airport as its final destination. It was scheduled to arrive at 4:05 p.m.

The plane is registered to a corporation in Delaware, according to the FAA's registry.

Little more is known about the pilot at this time, but Williamson said of his piloting skills "He did a phenomenal job landing the plane."
