Trig Avionics TX56 and TX57 Nav/Com Radios Impress

Units Offer Advanced Features, Easy Installation, and Intuitive Operation

Trig Avionics Limited, the avionics design and manufacturing concern with offices in Scotland and The Netherlands, has confirmed the immediate availability of its stand-alone TX56 and TX57 Nav/Com units.

The devices represent a milestone for the company insomuch as they complete Trig’s stack product line—a series of slim, user-friendly avionics components designed to save panel space and ease installation and pilot workload.

The TX56 and TX57 Nav/Coms provide both VFR and IFR pilots crisp and clear stereo communication, faster tuning, a programmable USB database, and dual watch—a feature that permits pilots to monitor two Com or Nav frequencies contemporaneously. The units also include Trig’s popular Say Again function—a nifty bit of single-button devilry that re-plays the last received VHF communication, thereby sparing pilots the indignity of embarrassing transmissions the likes of “Say again, O’Hare ground.”

Trig CEO Andy Davis states: “Trig’s Nav/Com product family has landed. Customers can now order their Nav/Com from our approved Trig dealers. We know customers are excited by the TX56 space-saving form-factor and its compelling list of pilot friendly features.”

The TX56 incorporates a bright, high-resolution display for the clearest possible presentation of Nav and Com information. The unit has a customizable frequency database that holds over two-hundred communication, and an additional two-hundred navigation frequencies. Subject database is conveniently loaded by way of ubiquitous, inexpensive, USB stick. The unit’s Nav side supports VFR and IFR navigation, including ILS approaches. Instrument pilots will appreciate the digital course deviation indicators built in to all TX56 models—though the company’s TI106, Course Deviation Indicator is also available as a panel-mounted companion to any TX56 model. The Nav/Com includes a two-place intercom that supports stereo music.

Customers interested in provisioning their aircraft with a complete Trig stack may do so by purchasing the company’s TMA44 Audio Panel, TY96A VHF Radio, and TT31 Mode-S Transponder in addition to their TX56A Nav/Com. With a good-looking, harmonized design and an attractive, start-to-finish price point of $10,935, a new Trig stack is a seductive proposition.

The TX56 and TX57 differ in the sense that the former comprises a 10-Watt transmitter, while the latter features a higher-powered 16-Watt transmitter suited to aircraft with 28-volt electric systems. Both radios feature 8.33kHz channel spacing. The price of the TX56 is $4,715. The TX57 retails for $5,405.
