'CLIMBING. FAST.' Campaign Builds Speed

Congressional Caucus Quickly Finds Fans in Business Aviation Community

A dozen international Av-Biz stakeholders have responded to the establishment of the Congressional Sustainable Aviation Caucus, drawing attention to the "CLIMBING. FAST." initiative.

It's some unorthodox branding to include both the italics and the periods, but it's much more memorable than the umpteenth iteration of an inscrutable acronym around the beltway water cooler. CLIMBING. FAST. is another example of the business and private aviation industry's prompt and enthusiastic self-governance, hopefully heading off onerous regulation by policing themselves before policymakers even have a chance to. In their own words, CLIMBING. FAST. is an 'advocacy initiative designed to showcase business aviation's many societal benefits, from driving opportunities for today’s workforce, to leading sustainability innovations to achieve a commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.' As such, it makes sense they'd be excited when the government appears to join in their mission to reduce emissions - or, for the cynics, it makes as much sense that they would reach out and befriend anyone who may eventually try to regulate their industry.

Either way, CLIMBING. FAST. has reached out to Congress to give them some recognition for joining the net-zero mission, issuing a consensus statement addressed to the leadership of the new Sustainable Aviation Caucus:

“The organizations supporting the CLIMBING. FAST. advocacy initiative applaud Reps. Sharice Davids (D-03-Kan.) and Dusty Johnson (R-At-Large-SD) for their leadership in taking the important step to form the Congressional Sustainable Aviation Caucus, supporting business aviation’s path to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050," said the open statement.

“Despite being one of the toughest industries to decarbonize, business aviation is pushing ahead, expanding access to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and integrating technologies that improve the fuel efficiency of aircraft to reduce emissions. At the same time, enhanced policymaker awareness and support is key. This new Caucus provides an opportunity for additional policymaker engagement, and we look forward to working with the members of the Caucus to continue our industry’s momentum.”
