Ohio Subsidiary Of Russian Supplier Facing Federal Charges

Flighttime Enterprises, Inc., a subsidiary of a Russian aircraft parts supplier, and three of its employees have been charged with federal crimes alleging a scheme to illegally export aircraft parts and components to Russia and Russian airlines without the required licenses from the Department of Commerce.

Three individuals are facing an 11-count indictment, including Daneila Friery, a naturalized American citizen from Loveland, Ohio; Pavil Iglin, a Russian citizen living in Florida on a non-immigrant visa; and Marat Aysin, a legal permanent resident of Florida. The indictment also asserts that the three worked for Flighttime that has offices in West Chester, Ohio, and Miami, Florida.

The three, along with Flighttime Enterprises, are alleged to have knowingly and willfully violated and evaded the restrictions on Russia and Russian end users prohibiting the shipment of aviation parts by mislabeling shipments, providing false certifications, and using intermediary companies and countries to conceal the actual destinations and end users of the cargo.

The indictments provide details of four specific transactions totally over $2 million. The defendants also face charges of smuggling and conspiracy to commit smuggling, and conspiracy to launder monetary instruments.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth L. Parker said, “We will not tolerate export violations or smuggling of items contrary to U.S. laws to any part of the world, Russia included. These illicit activities are extremely harmful to our country, regardless of the item that is smuggled.  I am confident in the prosecution bringing accountability to the individuals named in the indictment on behalf of the people of the Southern District of Ohio – but even greater, on behalf of our nation.”
