This report could be called the story of the Grinch who stole the Christmas bonus. About 45 pilots flying for Hawaii-based Island Air were given Christmas bonuses ... only to have the company ask for them to be returned. The regional airline paid out bonuses of $4,000 each to its pilots in October, but then notified those pilots that the payout was "premature" ... and told them to return the money.

It’s reported the company plans to take a payroll action to recover the premature payments. The FAA announced that the Washington, D.C. Metroplex is the first in the nation to have three, state-of-the-art, satellite-based "highways in the sky" running side by side by side, each dedicated to one of the three major airports in the region. Flyovers are always an exciting part of pre-game or pre-race activities for fans, but with fewer military aircraft to participate, the EAA is hoping that more private aircraft will be allowed to pick up the slack. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
