Super Mario Rockets To The Flight Levels

Rockwell Collins to offer Nintendo games on eTES-equipped aircraft

How high can Mario jump? Thirty-five thousand feet? Some airline passengers will soon find out as they pass their in-flight time playing popular video games, thanks to an alliance between Rockwell Collins and Nintendo. Rockwell Collins’ in-flight entertainment system, eTESTM, will offer a selection of more than 30 Nintendo Game Boy games on select twin-aisle aircraft.

“We are very pleased to be working with Nintendo to offer this popular game suite and globally recognized brand to our growing list of eTES customers,” said Neil James, director of Rockwell Collins’ enCompass Group.

Nintendo’s high-quality Game Boy Color video games represent the kind of diverse and entertaining applications that eTES offers to enhance the in-flight experience for airline passengers. The eTES system uses a standard Microsoft Windows platform to enable ease of porting a rich variety of third-party entertainment options for passengers.

“This significant evolution in entertainment services for airline passengers will enable Nintendo video games to be experienced seamlessly from the home to the sky, giving passengers the same truly interactive fun while traveling,” said C. Peter Eck, Nintendo of America’s director of Nintendo Gateway Products. “We look forward to working closely with Rockwell Collins and its customers to ensure the best video game experience possible for their passengers.”
