DIRECTV INFLIGHT Collaborates With Satcom Direct For Live IPTV

Business Aircraft Passengers Can Access Content Through WiFi

DIRECTV INFLIGHT has entered a collaboration with Satcom Direct (SD) to provide live television to business aviation passengers. Content will be delivered to aircraft through Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and distributed via the aircraft WiFi to passengers’ devices.

This entirely new product is the first DIRECTV INFLIGHT service that uses satellite connectivity to deliver fully digital live television for private aviation passengers. An extensive selection of live local and national sports, news, weather, and entertainment can be integrated seamlessly with SD’s plans, or can be purchased and accessed separately through the DIRECTV app as well as compatible Amazon Fire TV Stick, and Roku devices. Such flexibility enables passengers to enjoy TV shows, movies, and sports on personal devices or in-cabin displays.

The service integrates easily with existing in-flight entertainment systems and hardware so passengers can watch high-definition content with on-demand convenience. A comprehensive and robust set of security measures protect user data and content.

Michael Skou Christensen, Chief Commercial Officer at Satcom Direct explained, “We are always looking to expand our portfolio of high-quality, flexible services for our customers. This latest addition to our Satcom Direct ecosystem allows passengers subscribing to the DIRECTV® service to enjoy live TV just as they do at home or in their office. This service adds significant value for our customers without needing to equip the aircraft with additional hardware. We’re proud to collaborate with DIRECTV as a distributor for this service.”
