Avemco On-Duty For Hurricane Katrina Claims

Avemco Insurance Company, the country's only direct writer of general aviation insurance, has claims adjusters ready to respond to claims resulting from Hurricane Katrina. They are responding to claims where they can gain access to the airport and are conducting aerial surveys of affected areas to determine where best to assign their staff. Claims have been reported and are expected from a wide geographic area.

If You Need Help...

If your aircraft is insured by Avemco and was damaged by Hurricane Katrina you can call our claims office CTC Services Aviation (LAD Inc.) directly at 800-874-9124. Or if you have access to the internet, you may contact them at avemco@ave.com. Please be prepared to advise CTC of your policy number (if available), your aircraft registration number, and the airport where it is located and to assist them in finding your aircraft, the color of your aircraft or other distinguishing characteristics and the location on the airport where your aircraft was secured. If you believe your aircraft may be a total loss, have your aircraft registration certificate and logbook available when the adjuster comes to inspect aircraft.

Avemco is making every effort to provide additional service to its policyholders in the affected area. An internal taskforce has been established to implement Avemco's disaster response plan and deal with the unique issues that are certain to arise from Katrina, such as:

  1. No issuance of cancellation notices or non-renewals to customers for non-payment of premium in the affected areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama until further notice.
  2. Providing regular updates to affected policyholders on the company website, www.avemco.com.
  3. Coordinating the policyholder database with the adjusters' efforts in order to make the adjustment process as efficient as possible.
  4. Determining what other actions can be taken to help our affected policyholders.

Updates to this information will be available on the web throughout the weeks to come.
