CSF Applauds Blue Origin’s 10th New Shepard Flight

Says Mission Represents A 'Critical Milestone' For The Company

Blue Origin successfully launched and landed its 10th New Shepard mission (NS-10), marking the first New Shepard mission of 2019. NS-10 launched and returned eight research and technology payloads sponsored through the NASA Space Technology Mission Directorate’s Flight Opportunities program. Flight Opportunities is an essential program for researchers to access low-cost, frequent flights to the microgravity environment for technology development, science, education, and applied research.

“Blue Origin’s Mission 10 represents another critical milestone for the company and continued progress in establishing frequent, low-cost access to space for researchers, technologists, students, and eventually humans,” said Taber MacCallum, Commercial Spaceflight Federation (CSF) Chairman and Co-Founder and CTO of World View. “Today’s launch sends another strong signal to NASA and the broader microgravity research community that it’s time to fully realize the game-changing power of commercial reusable suborbital platforms through programs like NASA’s Flight Opportunities.”

“CSF extends its sincerest congratulations to the Blue Origin team for today’s record launch,” said Eric Stallmer, CSF President. “CSF members continue to achieve space milestones, and Blue’s success today is another outstanding example of commercial ingenuity that is leading the way to affordable, sustained space transportation and continued innovation.”
