Israel Confirms Hezbollah Helo Shootdown Claim

News Comes As Cease-Fire Set To Begin

Israel now confirms it... a transport helicopter was shot out of the sky by Hezbollah guerillas Saturday near the Lebanese town of Yater.

Five Israeli soldiers were killed in the shoot-down, including the first female soldier to lose her life during the month-long war.

Hezbollah TV in Lebanon says the helo was knocked down by a new type of ground-to-air missile called the Waad... which translates into "the Promise."

Israeli media report the aircraft was shot down with an anti-tank missile.

In any case, it's the first confirmed shoot-down of an Israeli aircraft in the entire conflict. Two Apaches collided over the border between Israel and Lebanon last month... and another crashed separately near the combat area.

In related news, Israel, Lebanon and the Hezbollah have signed a United Nations cease-fire deal that is scheduled to take effect Monday.
