Missing Thorpe T-18 Found

2 Flyers On Board Reported Lost

The subject of an ALNOT, an extensive search for a missing Thorpe T-18 (FILE photo shown on the right is representative of the type involved) finally turned up the wreckage of this aircraft west of Needles, CA (near the CA-AZ border) in some remote territory. Listed as lost were a Arroyo Grande, CA, kindergarten teacher Carl F. Daughters (the pilot), and his wife Sue A. Daughters, a registered nurse. Reported missing after its departure from Glendale, AZ, a search was started after it failed to arrive at the Santa Maria (CA) Airport. A Civil Air Patrol search was conducted in concert with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, revealing the wreckage in the eastern Mojave Desert, west of Lake Havasu, AZ.

Our condolences to the families and friends of those lost.
