Creature Comforts Highlighted By Rockwell Collins At EBACE

Cabin Management Systems For A Variety Of Business Aircraft

Rockwell Collins announced Tuesday at EBACE that it has completed aftermarket installation of its Venue Cabin Management System (CMS) on two Dornier 328DBJ aircraft. With this installation, completed by 328 Support Services of Germany (328 SSG), the Dornier 328DBJ becomes the first European manufactured aircraft to fly with Venue.

Venue CMS Mockup Installation

“With this particular installation, 328 SSG was able to install Venue with a short lead time, which was made possible by the system’s flexible design,” said Dave Austin, vice president and general manager of Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins. “No other HD cabin management system spans such a wide range of aircraft - from a forward fit position on the King Air 350i to VVIP aircraft.”

The company is also touting a digital, high-definition upgrade to its ACMS and CMS-1 cabin systems, with Jet Aviation the first to implement upgrade on a Gulfstream V.

The digital HD upgrade refreshes and extends the life of a cabin by allowing passengers to enjoy a high-end home theater experience without the expense and downtime required with changing control switches and modifying the woodwork. Elements of the upgrade include:

  • HD audio/video distributor, which also can upscale analog content to HD quality
  • HD monitors provide dramatic picture quality
  • Dual Blu-ray disc player

Basel, Switzerland-based Jet Aviation was the first to install the upgrade on a Gulfstream V. The digital HD upgrade solution is also available for Gulfstream 400 and 500 series aircraft, as well as the Hawker Beechcraft 750, 800XP, 850 and 900XP.
