Universal Avionics Releases Falcon 2000 Flight Deck Upgrades

InSight Glass Panels Lighten Things by 200 Pounds While Freeing Operators from Legacy CRT Maintenance

Universal Avionics has combined efforts with Trimec Aviation to provide a streamlined, integrated avionics package for the Dassault Falcon 2000/2000EX aircraft.

The system will replace the aging Collins Aerospace Pro Line 4 equipment as shipped from the factory, swapping it out for the Universal Avionics InSight Flight Display System, SBAS-Flight Management Systems, UniLink Communications Management System, and the futuristic SkyLens head-wearable display. The STC approval for the suite is in the works, expected to be issued for the first aircraft type in the 1st quarter of 2023.

The system boasts a dramatic increase in capability for pilots, bringing modern; beautifully rendered synthetic vision; and faster, more responsive, and more capable software. Replacing the older Collins system removes more than 200 lbs of weight from the flight deck, with its replacement InSight PFD and MFDs boasting a wider range of flight planning, charting, and monitoring capability. After the upgrade, Universal's work will yield a flight deck that allows pilots much better situational awareness throughout the flight, especially during ground movement at complex, busy airports.

“Replacing existing flight deck displays with the InSight Flight Display System is an economical and sustainable initiative that extends the service life of both the flight deck and the aircraft while enhancing capabilities to meet global airspace compliance,” said Dror Yahav, CEO of Universal Avionics. “Whether you own the aircraft for just a few years or decades to come, we believe this holistic approach complements the rising demand and value of the F2000/F2000EX aircraft.”

“We are excited to be working closely with Universal Avionics on this achievement as our relationship goes back many years. We are always looking for ways to help our customers and this package with Universal Avionics InSight is a big step forward in providing a modern package,” said John Holland, manager of project partner Trimec Aviation. “The additional components provide CPDLC features as well as an economic alternative for Falcon 2000 operators that are now looking to upgrade to FANS.”
