CJG Falcon 900 Flight Deck STC Approved

The “Audiophile’s” Audio Panel Upgrade

PS Engineering announced the availability of their PAC45J Audio Controller in the Falcon 900B STC flight deck Upgrade, offered through Chicago Jet Group. As part of the comprehensive modernization process, each system in the cockpit was selected to provide the longest, forward-looking performance possible.

The STC suite, when installed, consists of a Universal Avionics (UA) InSight EFIS with 4 EFI-1040P displays. Complemented by dual UA UNS-1Fw flight management systems with LP and LPV approach capability, a CVR-120A cockpit voice recorder, UniLink UL-801 comms management unit, and a Latitude Technologies Iridium SkyNode safety voice satcom.

The PAC45 has a number of features that make for an ideal long-haul audio tool, as well as cockpit comms management system. It can filter Navaid identifiers, and connect with bluetooth devices. Users can select from 8 comm channels and 8 navaids, each with their own volume knob, and a voice-activated intercom. For pilots looking to emulate a nice road trip, the head unit supports the inclusion of a 1/8" audio jack for entertainment.

PS Engineering highlights the MultiTalker system, a sound localization process that makes audio channels easier to discern by shifting the pilot's attention to the data needed. Using proprietary signal processing, a sense of distance is created, making it appear to the pilot as if they are surrounded by simultaneous conversations. By concentrating their attention on one audio feed or the other, their brain can focus on the information they prefer, much like natural conversation. MultiTalker is advertised as particularly helpful, for example, in copying weather while inbound for landing, while tuned in to ATC in case of any communication.
