USAF Designates Two New B-21 Bases

Whiteman and Dyess AFBs Selected to Home the Bomber

Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall recently designated Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and Dyess Air Force Base in Texas as the second and third locations for the B-21 Raider. These locations will join the first base, Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. The Air Force will continue to modernize and maintain its current bomber fleet until the B-21 is fully operational in the mid-2020s.

Vertical Aerospace recently completed Phase I testing of its VX4 prototype. They are now working with the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to start untethered tests. The Vertical VX4 features a 20% power-to-weight ratio increase from the previous model, allowing it to reach cruise speeds of 150 mph. MagniX and Harbour Air are working towards commercialization of their battery-powered eBeaver in the United States and Canada. They expect it to enter service in 2027. Wind 170° At 5 Knots; Visibility ¼ Mile With Fog; Indefinite Ceiling Of 200 Feet

On September 7, 2024, about 0924 Alaska daylight time, a Bell 206B helicopter, N306FW, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near King Salmon, Alaska. A passenger was fatally injured, the pilot and three passengers sustained minor injuries.
