Rotax Publishes Service Instructions, New Maintenance Manual

Modification Published Affecting 912, 914, and 582 Engines

Rotax has published service instructions to modify Bing constant depression carburetors in Rotax 912 and 914 engines, with some 582s affected.

That’s not the only publication of note lately, with the manufacturer issuing a 2nd revision of its Maintenance Manual Heavy for ROTAX Engine Type 912/914 (Series), updating its previous 2018 revision date.

Rounding out the updates, the company released a new Service Instruction - Parts and Accessories document, too, offering installers and operators a mounting kit for an optional AC-DC converter.

Those operators using a 582 UL Mod. 99/Mod. 17 should also take note of the available information.

The change adds "running modifications of the carburetor" for each series of engine, and Rotax clarifies that it is not mandatory to retrofit carbs with older configurations unless explicitly affected by a service bulletin.

The improvements include a series of small changes and improvements throughout the carb system, swapping out old throttle valves with hardier material and strengthening linkages for longer service life. New part numbers, heat treatments, and updated suppliers also add a few differences to the assembly that may seem new to those accustomed to working on the Rotax series.
