Twin Otter Down In Nepal

Near Richard Meredith-Hardy's Microlight Base Camp

A DeHavelland Twin Otter flying from the capital of Nepal to a base camp on Mount Everest has crashed, killing all three crew members on board.

News reports from the region indicate the aircraft (file photo of actual aircraft, above) was flying from Katmandu to Lukla, where Richard Meredith-Hardy's record-setting expedition is based.

As ANN reported Tuesday, Meredith-Hardy, a World Microlight champion from Britain, flew over the summit of Mount Everest the day before. His partner, Italian hang-glider pilot Angelo D'Arrigo, was forced to "outland" (land away from his destination) at Labouche, suffering minor injuries.

There was no immediate indication whether the Yeti Airlines Twin Otter was working with Meredith-Hardy's team.
