MANUFACTURER: Airbus Model A300 B4-600, B4-600R, and F4-600R Series Airplanes, and Model C4-605R Variant F Airplanes (Collectively Called A300-600 Series Airplanes)
SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2011-01-13

SUMMARY: This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:

During a routine maintenance check on an A300-600 aeroplane, the operator found the pitch uncoupling unit installed at an incorrect location. The pitch uncoupling unit was inverted with the rod assembly.

After a complete inspection of all A300-600 aeroplanes of its fleet, the operator identified the same incorrect installation on another aeroplane. This condition, if not detected and corrected, in combination with particular failure modes, could lead to loss of control of the aeroplane during the takeoff phase.
