Don't Forget To Tip Your ... Flight Attendant

Frontier Airlines Asking Passengers To Include A Tip For Drink Service

Frontier Airlines has begun asking passengers to tip its flight attendants when they collect money for snacks and drinks.

The practice was pointed out on a blog called "The Points Guy", whose author JT Genter recently ordered a ginger ale on a Frontier flight. When the FA handed him the tablet to swipe his credit card, he was prompted to leave a tip for the flight attendant. He was also given an option to not leave a tip.

Admittedly, Frontier is an Ultra Low-Cost Carrier. They only serve drinks and snacks to those who wish to pay for them on the flight, but passengers are allowed to bring outside food and drinks on board. The Points Guy contacted Frontier Corporate, who said that "many flight attendants see the inflight tip program as a way to supplement their income."

Business Insider Australia reports that a Frontier spokesperson told Genter that when the program was put in place, tips were shared equally among all members of the flight crew. But as of January, flight attendants will earn individual tips. No portion of the tips will be kept by the airline, Genter was told.
