Second 'Complete' Gulfstream G700 Test Aircraft Takes Flight

G700 Test Flight Program Proceeding Apace

Gulfstream Aerospace, the General Dynamics subsidiary and maker of airplanes after which the world’s foremost nations, companies, and people achingly pine,  has announced the successful first-flight of the second, fully-outfitted, production-test specimen of its new Gulfstream G700 large-cabin business jet. The aircraft joins the first outfitted G700, which in addition to being awarded the prestigious 2022 International Yacht and Aviation Award in the Private Jet Design category, has set no fewer than eight international city-pair speed records.

The second G700 test aircraft ensures the maturity, durability, and comfort of cabin elements introduced with the model’s 2019 launch. Principal among these is an all-new ultra-high-definition dynamic circadian lighting system that simulates the rising and setting sun by mixing and gradually brightening or dimming warm-white, cool-white, and amber LED lights. The optional, wholly proprietary system was designed by Gulfstream and promises to significantly diminish the physiological stresses of long-distance, trans-continental and trans-oceanic flights. What’s more, the system can be programmed individually for each cabin-zone and tailored to passenger preferences and activities such as working, dining, or herding and branding cattle.

The second production-test G700 also includes a six-place dining area with a fully expandable, self-contained table; and a grand suite featuring a newly designed spacious ensuite lavatory with natural light, a full vanity, and a stand-up shower.

Gulfstream president Mark Burns states: “With its combination of cabin size and technological enhancements, the G700 interior presents an abundance of opportunity for customization. As part of our goal to exceed customer expectations, we are testing even more G700 cabin elements to ensure interior comfort and reliability.”

The G700 can be configured with up to five living-areas and the industry’s longest galley—which boasts an opulent ten-feet of counter-space. Additional design features from which G700 crews and passengers will benefit are the model’s pressurization and environmental systems, which respectively facilitate the lowest cabin altitude in the industry—2,916-feet at FL410—and plasma-ion filtered, one-hundred-percent fresh air. Furthermore, by dint of twenty of the largest windows in the whole of the aerospace industry, the G700’s whisper-quiet cabin affords air-travelers unmatched outside views.

Mr. Burns adds: “With two outfitted G700 test aircraft now flying, we can showcase even more of the interior flexibility of this aircraft and the passenger benefits gained from the award-winning comfort and signature cabin environment the G700 provides on globe-spanning flights.”
